Newt Scamander Wand DIY
Hello and welcome to Laughter Jayne! As part of my Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts Challenge I wanted to do a Fantastic Beasts project. So here it is:
Newt Scamander Wand DIY
Supplies:
-1 1/8 in. thick wood
-Blue watercolor
-White Acrylic paint
-Silver Acrylic paint
-Brown stain
-Scroll saw
-Plane
-Multiple grits of sandpaper
-Electric drill
-Brown and black colored pencils
-Spray varnish
Directions:
1. Cut out a 14 in. by 3/4 in. rectangle piece of wood with a scroll saw.
2. Use a plane to carve it down to shape.
3. Sand it down with multiple grits of sandpaper.
4. Use an electric drill that is a little bit smaller than the diameter to hollow out about 1/2 in. of the end of the wand. Sand it down. Get the wand down to shape.
5. Make burn marks and other details with the colored pencils, making sure to go hard with the pencil, so it doesn't disappear when you sand it.
6. Do a final sand with the sand paper, also use the shavings of wood.
7. On the last third of the wand use the stain. From the end of the stain to about to inches after apply the blue watercolor. Wipe of the excess.
8. Paint the part we hallowed out with white first, then finish it with silver. You could also use a pearlescent color.
9. Once everything is dry use spray varnish to seal it.
